I wanted to do a quick rundown of what we can expect from the Astros series during the early week. We have 3 night games in a row at 8EDT, so that sits well with me from a TV standpoint.
Game 1 - Beachy v. Happ
Game 2 - Hanson v. Weiland
Game 3 - Delgado v. Rodriguez
The first two matchups seem like the advantage goes to us. Beachy averaged 5.5 innings per start last season with a 3.62 ERA. Happ had about the same amount of innings with a 5+ ERA. If we can't score runs on Happ, we need to seek the help of a voodoo priest.
Hanson was strong in his bid against the Mets, and we didn't score at all. If he's in the remotely similar form, we should murder Weiland. He's a 25 year old doofy looking right who pitched 7 games in the majors with a 7.66 ERA. Let me put this very clearly. WE MUST NOT LOSE THIS GAME. It's essentially Ace v. Some guy we found off the street.
As far as Delgado and Rodriguez, it's our weakest link against their consistent starter. It's a game we are supposed to lose in theory. We might be able to steal one if Delgado is really on that day, but if spring training numbers are any indication, Delgado is a complete greasefire right now. He posted a 7.89 ERA in 21 innings with 28 hits, 12 walks, and 3 home runs. The fact we're favoring him over Medlen is beyond me, but if he goes out there and lays a 6 run egg against Houston? @#$% will hit the fan.
So, in short I have us going 2-1 in the series, winning the first two and losing the last one.
